A demo of using iClone for PreViz. Taken from Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

Simplified Ragdoll

A very simplified ragdoll that is capable of simple motions without the arched back which is taken care of with a couple of simple clicks. This ragdoll is not rigged for position matching and will not substitute for that rigging.  You can download the ragdolls here.

This rig might help those new to physics to grasp the concept and move on to a more complicated rig. Very quick to setup and use. The actual tutorial is around 6 minutes followed by an explanation of dummies and the demo scene.

To clarify my last post. No you can't with a ragdoll but replace it temporarily with a character and the dummy box attached to the foot.

Quoting WarLord:
If you attach a dummy box to the foot and make it physics enabled then you should be able to "Kick" the ball.

Quoting Raffas:
Can I do a soccer simulation with ragdoll, can the actor actually kick a ball ?

An update changed this to a Constraint Settings button at the bottom of the Physics Settings control panel.

There is no easy way to use the ragdoll in actual animation. Not enough reach targets at the moment for one thing. I've been cutting the scene and rigging the actor or replacing the actor with a ragdoll rigged actor. Use a point to point constraint on the ragdoll head to hold the actor in place. Posing is the problem so I had the actor resume a neutral hands down at side pose then switched.

How can you use an avater as an actor with the ragdoll connected?

Hi Dave,

Sorry I missed your comment till now. You will need to press Ctrl-D to make the dummies visible. 8)

Hi Warlord,

I downloaded the Ragdoll(s), they are set to normal, but I can not see them?

I drag/drop into iClone5. Content mgr shows them as seen on your site, but when I add to empty scene, I see red outline but no parts to select.

Thanks!

Dave
